Update on Planning/Zoning Commission

With the input from the council, and the volunteers who sent their bios in, we have over twenty well qualified people to choose from for staffing the Planning/Zoning Commission.  Each person brings something special to the table. All are concerned with controlling the growth of our city. Everyone wants to help keep our area rural and green. Some have lived here most of their life; others have been here a short time. All want to continue to live here and enjoy life as it is now.

The decision on the final five people who will serve on the Commission will not be an easy task. With the dedicated work of the council, we have narrowed the list down. We will try to have it ready for the March council meeting.

Much thought went into the selection. We need people that will take into consideration the whole city, not just their neighborhoods. The position will require many hours of research and those chosen will also need to attend numerous meetings for the public to voice their opinions. The Overlay must be studied to correct some items that are not working as they were intended.  The TDR program also needs to be changed to provide more demand for them. These are some of the issues that this most important Commission will have to face.

For those not selected, I want to thank you for your willingness to step forward to help your
new city.  Please continue to stay active with our volunteer groups to provide help for our city.  The city needs the help of all its citizens.

As you know, the mayor and council are here to serve you.  Feel free to call and schedule times to meet the council members from your district, or the mayor.

Thanks again for your input.
