I have been honored to serve as the first Mayor of Chattahoochee Hills. With the help of the council and many dedicated employees we started the city with no funds. We couldn't have picked a worst time, with the economy as it is. With much work from all involved we were able to get through some difficult times.
-We were able from day one to have a well staffed Fire Department. This was accomplished by purchasing the fire station and used equipment from Fulton County.
-We managed to retire our debt to CH2M Hill for the work they did in initially setting up and managing our city.
-We were fortunate to have a building to purchase for the City Hall. There has been a continuous remodeling program since our inception. There have been great improvements to the building.
-We have a Police Department led by an experienced Chief. The cars have the latest equipment, allowing our police to be more efficient.
-We have a very good Public Works Department. With over 100 miles of roads, this is a huge task for the department. We were able to get most of the equipment from government surplus, saving the city money.
-We have an appointed Planning Commission that is poised and waiting for the growth to begin. They have been involved in the Comprehensive Plan.
-The I.T. Department has been instrumental in purchasing and installing all the new equipment on the police cars among all his other duties.
-Our Municipal Court is up and functioning with a local judge.
-The Comprehensive Land Use Plan is completed.
-With the help of the community we now have some beautiful parks.
-We reached out to the citizens to see how they could help, set up volunteer groups, and assigned council members to help organize the volunteer groups.
